Superior Performances ' ' Pig Out on Books was the theme of a month-long contest held at the elemen- tary school . . . and that's ex- actly what the students did! A goal was set for each classroom to see how many books they could read, and there were also personal goals which were rewarded with small prizes such as bookmarkers, pencils, and book bags. On March 24 a special parade was held to celebrate the end of this educational contest, Students dressed as their favorite characters or little piglets and were judged by classes. Mrs. Daniels' fifth graders won first for best costumes and were, of course, in hog heaven! BELOW: The truest test of performance was in the costumes of Louis Karns and Donald Knott. 8 PIG OUT ON BOOKS it 523 TOP RIGHT: Fourth graders chose to be robots for parade day. Control panel driven are Amy Van Vranken, Jeri Bussard, Brandy Thomason, Michelle Knight, and Dorothy Bode. CENTER: Mrs. Spaulding's first graders Mandy Knight, Shanna Bussard, Anya McAnally, Joline Oldenburg, Kaleb Hermann, Rhonda Merrill, Travis Perrin, J. J. Jeet, Marriya Harrell, and Brian Prince display their totally new, highly advanced design as they sing their Pig Out on Books song. BOTTOM: Third graders put up their tops and ease on down the road. These human books are Emily Driskel, Jamie Gallaway, Chasity Shafer, and Jeff Oldenburg. BOTTOM CENTER: Luke Martin and student teacher Mr. Lannan take a quick spin around town.
