As I sat watching a tree one day, a thought struck me: the branches of a tree can represent all the different peoples and races. Some branches are lower than others, but they are equal. The leaves are different, too, just as people are. And though each leaf is only a neighbor to a few other leaves, they all stem from one main body. They are broth- ers and sisters, just as we are. Funny, though, leaves never seem to be fighting or arguing . . . People?! Well . . . ! As I sat there, the breeze was some- times soft; other times, forceful. Every so often a leaf would fall off. Some leaves were brown. Others were green. The brown ones have been awaiting death, just as old people do. The green ones might not have been ex- pecting it, the same as young people. I wonder?! Were the leaves ready? Are we always prepared to die?! ■J0BD0

DEDICATION By lending us a hand, he has helped us to look up and not down, forward and not back, out and not in. The Senior Class of 1973 dedicates this issue of the Mulberry Tree to MR. ALVIN GRAHAM.

I BELIEVE in other people because they are in the same mess that I am. There are other people who have difficulty getting up in the morning; who put their pants on one leg at a time; who burn their toast, dash to school, and worry about being late every morning. I do that. There are other people who have trouble sticking to their diets; who feel in- secure; who flunk their driver’s test; who put off studying until the last day of the term; and who are always behind in their letter writing. I do that. emotions Other people and I have a great deal in common. If I can believe in myself, I can believe in other people. And, I guess, the inverse of my last statement is true, also.
