Jeff Milligan, Mary Fleury, Ron Rachwal. Teri Mulholland, Pete Scholovich, Laura Kamnik The class of '79 definitely had a Prom to remember! Many hard working Juniors strived to make the night a huge suc- cess. The dinner and dance were held at The Marriott Inn in Brookfield. The facili- ties were beautiful and suited all Prom goers to a tee. The song“How Deep is Your Love?” by the Bee Gees was not only a hit across the country at the time, but also with the Juniors of 1978, as they picked this song as the theme of their Prom. The reigning Prom King and Queen were Mark Ksobiech and Laurie Yonke. Everyone attending the dance looked terrific as the girls and guys dressed their best for the annual Spring event. The evening was enjoyed by all who attended, and many lasting memo- ries were taken home that night. 18 Prom King- Mark Ksobiech Queen-Laurie Yonke P r o m C o u r t Jeff Milligan Mary Fleury Jeff Larkin Kerry Hardtke J Carter Hunnicutt Stephanie Olson Pete Scholovich Larra Kamnik Ron Rachwal Teri Mulholland Tom Gougher Jill Gruenwald Prom 19 Prom goers in action. mo - m c The Ju iloi Cla 6 oi Mokwonagc High School piZA tYVU HOW VEEP IS yOUR LOVE Manlott Inn Gland. Steve Kemp and David Harris joined other juniors across the state in Ripon, Wisconsin for a week. The program is designed to create a model state government to show how our own state is run. Those who attended participated in political campaigning, election procedures, and the duties of many state officials. David Harris and Steve Kemp Vicki Underberg and Kathy Hill Vicki Underberg and Kathy Hill were chosen to attend the 1978 Badger Girls State which was held in Madison, Wisconsin. The annual event is sponsored by the Women's American Legion Auxilary, and each year two junior girls are chosen to attend the event. The week at Badger State is a hard working, and fun filled week for the 700 girls who attend. The state is created to give the girls an idea of how our American government works. Those girls who attended were involved in political campaigning, election procedures, and filling the various offices held at the locai and state level. The week went by quickly, and all who attended left with new friends, and unforgettable memories. As soon as school closes for the year, that's just what everyone does. The weather is beautiful and there is always something to do. Many of us spent the majority of our summer tied down to a job. If we weren't working our summer away, we spent our time at the beach, at parties, or attending concerts out at Alpine Valley and the Stadium. There were the annual parades, fairs, and summerfests which many of us went to. Those summer days seem so long and yet so short when we see the month of September rolling around the corner again. It seems as though it takes so long for summer to arrive, and then it flys right by us with fall greeting us at the door. Student Government kicked off the week with Jersey Day on Monday. Then they kicked it even farther with Hat. Tie and Sock Day on Tuesday. Everybody got into the act wearing something crazy! Wednesday was designated as a combination 50’s Day and Career Day. Everyone had fun digging out of the attic mom and dad's high school treasures. Due to the success of Hush Day last year, it was back again this year. Blue and Gold Day summed up the whole week, with everyone getting into their blue and gold dudds. It seemed as though the unity and spirit of M.H.S. was stronger this year with everyone getting in- volved and heartily enjoying Spirit Week. The excitement and fun of Spirit Week was brought to it's climax on Friday with our pep rally. It seemed like everyone really enjoyed themselves, yelling for their class in attempts to try and win the tomahawk in the class cheering competi- tion. As usual, the seniors were the winners. Larry. Curly and Moe (alias Mr. Sutherland. Kujawa. and Allison) were present- ed with a delicious pie in the face, which the students seemed to enjoy. The Ms. Irresistable Award was given to Monique Meisner. for her capture of many Hush Badges. The Home- coming court was presented, and Laurie Nowatski and Steve Pokwinski were given the honor of reigning as our 1978 king and queen. The student body was sent home with a sense of unity, and a good feeling of being part of another fun Home- coming week. 60 Homecoming Homecoming 61 This year’s parade was filled with excitement and real school spirit. If people weren't in the bands or on a float they would think of some reason for participating. There was a Junior High Marching Band and a High School Band, along with court members in cars, class and club floats and plenty of clowns to run around. In the float competition, VICA Club won first place for clubs and the Sopho- mores won for class floats, and those who didn't win showed good spirit. UE AKC P no kiPlflN 62 Homecoming Homecoming 63 The Homecoming Game was the highlight of the week when the Mukwonago team gave us a victory to be proud of over Elkhorn High School. During half-time the marching band entertained the crowd with it’s music and formations. Everybody left the game happy and excited because of the win. 64 Homecoming Homecoming 65 Homecoming 1978 was brought to a close with the annual dance. After every- one had gone out for dinner, they arrived at the dance ready to dance the night away. The band performing for the evening was Black Frost from Milwaukee. The highlight of the dance was the introduction of the 1978 court. Homecoming this year was definitely fun and enjoyable for everyone in- volved! Top row: R. Lianas. M. Brown, R. Rageth. P. Tom Jones, the drama department's fall production at MHS, was a big suc- cess. The enthusiasm from the actors was obviously felt and absorbed by the audience as the play received standing ovations. Just as the actor's talent is a major part of any performance, it is the director’s job to bring forth the best of this talent from his cast. MHS has just the man to do it! Mr. Heagle has shown us time and time again his talent as a director. Lady Bellaston gives a little speech. Fall Play 69 Varsity Football Varsity Football: (Row 1) D. Schaefer, K. Gill, P. The team worked hard together and came on strong by winning the last four games of the season. One of them being a victory over Burlington, which hasn't been done for 12 years. Head Coach Don Enright was very pleased with his team this year. The team placed 2nd in conference with a 5-3 record. After 15 years of coaching football, Enright has announced this year as being his last one. He should be commended for his hard work and the fine record his teams have achieved. All students with a high grade point and recommendations from staff members automatically qualify, but membership is obtained through an anonymous rating system. The primary functions NHS performs are those services which benefit the student body, such as operating the concession stands at Mukwonago's basketball games. Student Government Student Government is a functional learning activity rooted in the principles of democracy. Members of Student Government are known for giving their time to improve the school, and for representing each of the four classes. It provides the student body with opportunities to develop self-motivation and self- discipline, such as the promotion of the activities during Homecoming week. Student Government works as a team with the faculty and administration in an effort to resolve mutual problems between the administration and the student body. It thus develops an environment that is conductive to the academic and social development of all MHS students. Student Government: (Row 1) G. Brown. L. Kamnik. L. Konieczny, Mr. Smith (advisor). Ski Club members don’t have to own their own equipment, or know how to ski (the latter which is more frequent), for rentals and lessons are available at the respec- tive lodges. Ask them if they like it? They must ... maybe that’s why it’s the most popular club in MHS. i i i Ski Club: (alphabetical order) D. Arkin. J. Beutler. J. Beutler. D. Billings. T. Bjorklund. Y. The yearbook staff put in many hours u, bring you this personal history book. It was often necessary to stay late into the evening to meet those ever pressing deadlines. Selecting type styles, photos, theme, and page arrangements became second nature to the staff. It was all worth it. though. The finished product, this book, reflect their efforts. But most of all, it reflects your life at MHS. 154 Clubs Vicki Underberg. Arrow Editor Thank You Mr. Mainella and his photographers were really on the ball this year! Our thanks to all of them for helping us meet those deadlines! Photographers for the yearbook were: Tom Oberholtzer, Rob Hughes, and the darkroom procedures class. Our thanks to Ken Whittemore, representa- tive from American Yearbook Co., for his encouragement, help, and patience. It was surely nice to know we could always depend on him when we needed him.
