Everytime he sees one of his classmates—his friend and companion throughout four years—the Senior has to wonder about the future. Will the upcoming years separate him from the friends of his youth, and leave him with only the fond memories of high school; or will he travel forth into the world by the side of his friend, seeking his desires through the knowledge he attained from this school? Whatever his destiny, it is sure that he will not forget MHS, which shaped his being and furnished him with images that he will recall forever. Though it seems like yesterday, the Class of '73 was born from the halls of our elementary schools four years ago. As freshmen-sophomores, our existence was similar to that of a typical childhood; we didn't fight to survive, we struggled to learn of life. It was in these years that the character, the distinct style and flair of the Class of '73, was created and nurtured . . . If 1970 and 1971 were the years of Creation, our junior times would be labeled the year of success and pride. Our class had changed; we no longer worked as a single unit, but as individuals striving for common goals. It was the year we ventured out into the high school world and proved our merit. Most people would agree that our junior year had an innocent beginning, because winning the Homecoming float competition is not, in it- self, so unique; but it was a moral victory, and the surging spirit that originated from it swept us to May, 1972, the time for our Junior Prom. The growing, enthusiastic soul we now possessed dared us to try a new idea with Prom—to break tradition—and we succeeded beyond all imagination. The Class of '73 had added another dimension, and only one chapter of our book remained to be written . . . (continued on Page 33) 20
