Thomas Huxley National Honor Society Nineteen new members were initiated into the National Honor Soc- iety at a candle-light ceremony on May 19, 1954. Later their parents were entertained at a tea. In order to become a member of the National Honor Society, a per- son must excel in leadership, must serve the school loyally, must pos- sess a good character and must have a ninety average, both in class work and conduct for at least two years. The officers of the society for this year: President, Allen Knurr; Vice-President, Ronnie Reinke; Secretary, Judy Enright. Mrs. Gevaart served as adviser and treasurer this year. BACK ROW - G. Student Council This year the Student Council was composed of two representatives from each homeroom. One representative was the regular member and the other, an alternate. The group met several times during the year to plan such school activities as homecoming and the Christmas party. Of- ficers for this year were: Jerry Davis, President; Lee Jacobi, Vice- President; Nancy Winters, Seeretary-Treasurer. Mr. Horn was the ad- viser for the group.
