She announces her engagement to a snob, Kingston Campbell (Dave Pett). The Brannigans disguise themselves in hillbilly attire when they learn the Campbells are coming. They receive them in the absence of Kaye who has gone to the city to purchase clothes to impress Kingston's mother (Diana Anich). Their hillbilly maid, Catalpa, (Delores Downs) and her inebriated father (Gilbert Barber) add authenticity to the masquerade and hilarity to the play. The Brannigan family includes Dick (Ted Robinson), Betty (Lois von Dahlen) and Ma (Bernice Taylor). Kingston refuses to marry Kaye when he sees her family dressed in rags. Kaye finally decides to marry Jeff and Ma plans to marry Jeff's father (Don Hinz).
