Bos. 1947 Ha CAPTAIN DAVE PETT Our first victory, a 5 to 3 win over Waterford, was accomplished in spite of dreary weather conditions. Union Grove also succumbed to the Indians by an 8 to 2 decision. The tide then changed and we expe- rienced three successive defeats. Rochester beat us 11 to 4 and Norris Farm nipped our diamond stars 2 to 0. Wilmot, the league champions, piled up runs in the early innings to win 11 to 1. In the final game of the year and the final M.H.S. game for the Seniors and Coach Laverty, we trounced East Troy 9 to 5 to finish with three wins and three losses. This clinched third place for us in the con- ference standings. 19

Rintelman. feaAJzethcdl CAPTAIN BENNY PETERSEN Mukwonago started the 1947-48 basketball season by losing a lop-sided game to Hartland, 61 to 16. Rochester fell 42 to 40 in our first conference game. M.H.S. humbled Pewaukee 29 to 21, and then lost to Waterford, 31 to 26. Norris Farm, playing on their home court, defeated the Indians easily 45 to 30. The champion Wilmot team beat the Blue-Gold quintet 41 to 29 at Mukwonago. M.H.S. won a close game from Union Grove, 32 to 30, and then lost an overtime tilt to Wau- kesha F.F.A. 27 to 25. East Troy defeated M.H.S. 46 to 28, and Rochester avenged an earlier defeat by beating the Blue-Golds 39 to 28. An overtime game went to St. Mary's 43 to 42. The following game also went overtime and Mukwonago lost 37 to 36, to Waterford. The Indians beat St. Mary's 35 to 31, but Norris Farm's accurate shooting offset the Indians' fight to win by a 40 to 38 score. Wilmot smarting from their first conference defeat in several years, beat the Indians 37 to 26. Our Blue- Golds pushed Union Grove in the cellar for keeps with a 25-20 win and downed the Waukesha F.F.A. 31-26. Benny Petersen, a Junior, captained the team from his guard position. 18

Senior Jlettesunesi The year 1948 saw twelve young warriors leave the Mukwonago battle front to their future hunting grounds. Chief Brave was Bob Schroeder. Bob won his first letter in basketball during his freshman year. Football and basketball provided him with a total of seven letters. Tony Feld can be called our medicine man and his first letter came while he was a freshman when he managed the basketball team. Letters in football and basketball gave him a total of five. Bob Dahms and Kurt Neumann each earned four fetters in football and basketball. Ray Craig, Larry Spellman, Dick Greenwald and Ted Robinson were winners of three letters in football. David Pett, Jim Money and Doug Shannon were summoned to the baseball diamond for two seasons and each won two letters. Don Ober- holtzer was the last brave to earn his letter which was awarded after playing football as a senior. Ted Robinson and Don Oberholtzer in 1948 won letters as cheerleaders in addition to their athletic prowess. 20
