The first Conference game at Union Grove went to the Indians by a 7 to 0 score. The Aggies' game was a nip and tuck affair which ended in a scoreless tie. Against the East Troy team, our Braves suffered a 7 to 0 Home- coming defeat. Waterford lost to M.H.S. 7 to 0. The Blue- Golds scored a 19 to 9 victory over Walworth, but Wilmot successfully defended their conference title, by defeating the Braves 20 to 0. M.H.S. humbled Pewaukee 29 to 21, and then lost to Waterford, 31 to 26. Norris Farm, playing on their home court, defeated the Indians easily 45 to 30. The champion Wilmot team beat the Blue-Gold quintet 41 to 29 at Mukwonago. M.H.S. won a close game from Union Grove, 32 to 30, and then lost an overtime tilt to Wau- kesha F.F.A. 27 to 25. East Troy defeated M.H.S. 46 to 28, and Rochester avenged an earlier defeat by beating the Blue-Golds 39 to 28. An overtime game went to St. Mary's 43 to 42. The following game also went overtime and Mukwonago lost 37 to 36, to Waterford. The Indians beat St. Mary's 35 to 31, but Norris Farm's accurate shooting offset the Indians' fight to win by a 40 to 38 score. Wilmot smarting from their first conference defeat in several years, beat the Indians 37 to 26. Our Blue- Golds pushed Union Grove in the cellar for keeps with a 25-20 win and downed the Waukesha F.F.A. 31-26. Benny Petersen, a Junior, captained the team from his guard position. 18 BACK ROW—F. Bos. 1947 Ha CAPTAIN DAVE PETT Our first victory, a 5 to 3 win over Waterford, was accomplished in spite of dreary weather conditions. Union Grove also succumbed to the Indians by an 8 to 2 decision. The tide then changed and we expe- rienced three successive defeats. Rochester beat us 11 to 4 and Norris Farm nipped our diamond stars 2 to 0. Wilmot, the league champions, piled up runs in the early innings to win 11 to 1. In the final game of the year and the final M.H.S. game for the Seniors and Coach Laverty, we trounced East Troy 9 to 5 to finish with three wins and three losses. This clinched third place for us in the con- ference standings. 19 Lett Up—T. Robinson, L. Spellman, J. Money, T. Feld. Down—K. Neumann, D. Pett, D. Greenwald. Up and Down R. Craig, R. Schroeder. R. Dahms, D. Shannon, D. Oberholtzer. Senior Jlettesunesi The year 1948 saw twelve young warriors leave the Mukwonago battle front to their future hunting grounds. Chief Brave was Bob Schroeder. Bob won his first letter in basketball during his freshman year. Football and basketball provided him with a total of seven letters. Tony Feld can be called our medicine man and his first letter came while he was a freshman when he managed the basketball team. Letters in football and basketball gave him a total of five. Bob Dahms and Kurt Neumann each earned four fetters in football and basketball. Ray Craig, Larry Spellman, Dick Greenwald and Ted Robinson were winners of three letters in football. David Pett, Jim Money and Doug Shannon were summoned to the baseball diamond for two seasons and each won two letters. Don Ober- holtzer was the last brave to earn his letter which was awarded after playing football as a senior. Ted Robinson and Don Oberholtzer in 1948 won letters as cheerleaders in addition to their athletic prowess. 20 STANDING—D. Shannon, M. Mohr, I. Hardaker, J. Fraser, B. Taylor. Bernice Taylor supplied the Senior news while Joyce Fraser and Joyce Hardaker reported the activities. Sports were covered by Douglas Shannon, and Diana Anich, Art Editor, furnished the designs and unusual decorations. Business matters were handled by Ruth Czarnecki while Delores Downs added the finishing touches to the material on the typewriter. 22 a4eculiine cMu+iteAA, Miss Pelikan supervised the Pow Wow Staff in its work of pub- lishing the school paper. Don Hinz and Lois von Dahlen, co-editors, assigned and selected the articles to be entered. Several feature items penned by the feature writers, Dorothy Schmitt, Darwin Greenwald and Lois Berg, proved to be very interesting. The news writers, Joyce Fraser, Joyce Hardaker and Jean Moore, summarized the school activities. The sports were aptly written by Douglas Shannon, and Diana Anich added artistic touches to the paper. After all articles were checked and approved, Marcia Stoecker and Lorraine Schlender typed them. BACK ROW—D. Shannon, R. Schroeder, K. Neumann. D. Greenwald, E. Gloyd. SECOND ROW—J. Fraser. M. These Tribesmen met at various intervals during the year for the purpose of planning and organizing volley ball, movies, dancing, ping-pong, and other noon hour activities. Another important issue was the sponsoring of our Annual Christmas Party, which was held on December 19. 24 otticjli fylyisuf AtidveAA. After three years of hardships suffered by the Redmen, several managed to reach the goal which permitted them to become members of the Muk- wonago Chapter of the National Honor Society. At a candle light service held last May, all Indian warriors saw Robert Schroeder, Alice Brandemuehl, Joyce Fraser, Donald Hinz, Ruth Czarnecki, Hugh Porter, Donna Theis, Sue Ketcham, Diane Smith, and Warren Greenwald welcome four new members into our Chapter. The new members were: Jeanalmor Moore, Lois von Dahlen, Kathleen Smart and Mary Anderson. The parents and teachers were entertained by the old members at a tea. All members belonging to the Society must not only achieve a 90 scholastic average, but must show ability in leadership, outstanding char- acter, and should give their faithful service to the school. New members are selected by the teachers, who base their selections upon the student's abilities. Bob Schroeder was elected Chief Archer; Lois von Dahlen, Vice-President; and Ruth Czarnecki, Secretary. The club is completed by Miss Janecek who serves as guide. STANDING—J. Fraser. J. Moore. A. Eight students participated in a massed band concert at Burlington on February ninth, and sixteen singers joined in the Choral Concert there on March first. She announces her engagement to a snob, Kingston Campbell (Dave Pett). The Brannigans disguise themselves in hillbilly attire when they learn the Campbells are coming. They receive them in the absence of Kaye who has gone to the city to purchase clothes to impress Kingston's mother (Diana Anich). Their hillbilly maid, Catalpa, (Delores Downs) and her inebriated father (Gilbert Barber) add authenticity to the masquerade and hilarity to the play. The Brannigan family includes Dick (Ted Robinson), Betty (Lois von Dahlen) and Ma (Bernice Taylor). Kingston refuses to marry Kaye when he sees her family dressed in rags. Kaye finally decides to marry Jeff and Ma plans to marry Jeff's father (Don Hinz). The Campbells depart after Mrs. Campbell is revealed as the sister of the drunken hill- billy and all ends well in the Brannigan household. STANDING—Miss Moen, L. von Dahlen, D. Anich. D. Hinz, K.
