i Jthekend of 1983 we unfortunately lost all our team players, but didinot dampen our spirit as we had many more players to replace wp of our new players lacked experience and confidence only one team was entered into the P.P.S.T.A. League in the first f 'This brought about a competitive spirit amongst the players and soon the general standard and enthusiasm improved tremendously. The team played five matches and did well considering their experienced opposition. Our number one player, Shane Myers, deserves special mention B he won all his singles matches. Well done Shane Z 'fMost? Two teams have been entered into the League for the fourth term. We wish them luck and hope they do well. Our eight team players ares S. Myers icaptainl, C. Hains, M. Elvin, G. van der Vijver, D. Bunch, P. Libauer, G. Stephens, P. Johnson and K. Joosten Kreservel. It is with deep regret and sadness that I say goodbye to tennis at Muizenberg Junior School. We have had many happy years both on and off the court. I am confident that Muizenherg Junior School will continue to nurture enthusiasm for the game of tennis and produce many budding stars. AIM HIGH - AND NEVER GIVE UP Z MRS S. SCHOLTz CAPE TOWN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA SCHOOL CONCERT M TUESOAE le FEBRUARY 1980 Std 5 pupils attending a symphony concert ? The idea seemed a rather ambitious one. On the day however, 54 of our pupils boarded the train to Cape Town to join over a thousand pupils from other school to listen to the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra. . On our arrival at the City Hall, we were shown to our seats and were handed a programme. The orchestra was in fine form, beginning e proceedings with the Overture to The Thieving Magpie by Rossini We were then treated to an introduction to each of the va ious instruments of the orchestra. No introduction to an orchestra i complete without a piece by Tchaikovsky and the children were enchanted by extracts from The Nutcracker Suite clgaris rousing Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 concluded the programme After buying cooldrinks from the cafeteria at the station, we boarded a rather crowded train back to Muizenberg. Both pupils and teachers alike were unanimous that the trip had been a thoroughly worthwhile and enjoyable one. MR S.
