' 1984 Has been a tough year economically and has created greater burdens on every household w what with Q inflation - the weakness of gold U unemploymnet rising' e interest rates at historical heights it would be ludicrous for me to say it didnit have an effect on the school. Obviously, P.T.A, Fundraising didnvt achieve the heights of yesteryears what with the rand at SOZ of its past value, but I must hasten to add their achievements were outstanding under these circumstances. Averil Myers and her loyal team are to be congratulated on this fine effort, 198A Also saw a change in the Committeeq Mr Mike Cluer, a Committee member, resigned due to business commitmentsu l thank Mike for his loyal support over the past few years and his enthusiam and down to earth approach will be missed. However, the school was very fortunate in acquiring Mr RusqrCrowhurst to fill this vacancyt Rusty is a lawyer by profession and can only be a great asset to Muizenberg Junior School. Whilst on the subject of the Committee I would like to take this opportunity of thanking them most sincerely for their dedication, enthusiasm, loyalty and support they have given to me as Chairman and all to the benefit of the school. As you are aware, like the P.T,A,, the Committee is totally voluntary. Finally, justice wouldnft be done if I didnlt express my gratitude to Mr Just and his staffo Those parents who have attended the various functions of the school? there can be no doubt in their minds as to the high quality of professionalism. To you, Mr Just and the staff, this Committee congratulates you on the fine achievements you have accomplished over the last couple of yearsn In closing, I wish to leave you with one thought for the future of Muizenberg Junior School, This school, like any other, cannot survive without the total support of all concernedo Lets not leave this important task to the minority. Committee of 'sa adopted WBe a Linkw as our logon We endeavoured to involve as many people in every project undertaken so as to encompass all to strive For the betterment of Muiuenberg Junior Schools Fundraising: In our first project undertaken this year, the Mini market, we rallied the support of previous P0T,A, Committee members, parents - new and old, teachers and childrenv The fruits Q H1 OOO profit 2 Combining delicious ingredients parents, teachers and pupils made possible the printing of our first, our very own Munchy Jiffy Scrumptious Recipe Book . n' W -' A filledetowcapacity Western Barn Dance Wpromenadedd R2 OOO profit. The Junior 50150 continues to bring added bonanzas For the lucky winnersq We have also gathered sponsorship for the school magazine, The Seagulls By September we had reached R10 OOO - our target Tor IBM with two projects in hand H the Meat Raffle and the Fun Run. Service: On the service side we have strenghtened our links with our children by running highly successful film shows and a winter school which was a resounding successo l The Tuckshop has been very ably run by Mrs Mains and Mrs Reid and assisted by mothers. In the true UBe a Linkm flavour? Std V pupils have assisted in the Tuckshop. a fine example of the team spirit which exists within our P.T.AQ ' It was Wall hands on the sewing machines' as mothers sewed curtains for the P,J, Bishop Hall and new tablecloths for special occasions. The Catering Committee excelled itself at the Sub B Maths Workshop Demonstration and at the Choral Evening, as well as being on duty at several other functionso Thanks to Mrs Logan, our Swop Shop fills a very real need in our schoolo 4 Our P,T,A, Committee has had a phenomenally successful year 0 its success can be attributed to the tremendous team spirit which exists within our committee, Each and every member has been instrumental in our success yet the most important vital link in our success is YOU, We are indebted to YOU for our success.
