THEY KEPT OUR SCHOOL Superintendent of Muhlenberg School District, Mr. John W. Khouri. W SUPERINTENDENT Mr. Khouri was often seen flying by, smile on his face, in a whirl of important papers. He seemed always busy, but was never too rushed to stop and chat with students or offer his sound advice in any situation. His responsibilities were heavy as he assisted the school board in the formidable task of keeping the educational machinery well-oiled. Competently he served us and guided our way. Mr. Khouri stands before the white pillars of M.T.H.S. Typical of a day's work, Mr. Khouri engages in an important conversation on the telephone. S a 9 2 X FUNCTIONING PROPERLY PRINCIPAL lVlr. Schmehl performed many duties, pleas- ant and unpleasant, presenting awards, approv- ing school projects, and attending school func- tions gave him pleasure. But he also held the reins of disciplinary problems, and visited class- rooms where there were unwholesome situations. lVlr. Schmehl has been a major help to many students throughout their school experience. Mr. Schrnehl stops at the library to look up information for reference. i Mr. Strittmatter watches as MT- Carl Stfittmattef, 35' three juniors buy candy in Sisiant Principal- the cafeteria. Principal of Muhlenberg Township High School, Mr. Kermit H. Schrnehl. In his office, he daily receives many visits from students with questions and problems. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Mr. Carl Strittmatter, assistant principal at Muhlenberg, also has many duties. Besides aiding Mr. Schmehl in everyday problems, he plays a big part in the discipline of students. Mr. Stritt- matter was seen this year at lunchtime as he served as proctor of the cafeteria and dismissed students from tables. 2I
