Spanish and German are the modern languages most useful in commerce, diplomacy, and culture . . . our English language is com- posed of elements from Latin and German languages . . . this Latin in Englishv is emphasized in first year Latin by having the students clip and bring in Words with Latin derivations they have spotted in various publica- tions . . . second year Latinists dwelt on vocabulary building and mastered Latin prefixes . . . Annette Kiesling, 11-2, learned to say good-bye in two languages this year as the lone student taking both first year Spanish and German . . .
