Donald Long Commercial. Hall Patrol 11, 12. "Longy" isa member of the Pennsylvania State Guard through which he receives training which will be of service to him as a member of Uncle Sam's army. At the present time, he is working for his father, driv- ing a gas and oil truck. Donald's future is unde- cided but the class wishes him good luck. Irvin Bortz Commercial. Irvin can often be found bowling at one of the local alleys for this is one of his chief interests. Bortz also rates roller-skating as the Meats" and spends much spare ti ni e "rollin' on wheels!" Bortz would like his vo- cation to center around plumbing. The class wishes him "pipes of success!" Thomas Clarke Academic. Stage 10, 11, 12: Track 11, 12: Hall Patrol 12: Debating 10, 11, National Honor Society 11, 12. During his spare time, Tom likes to work in his combined workshop a n d laboratory where he tinkers with chemicals, electricity and woodwork. For exercise, "Clarkie" likes to hike. Tom says, "If after gradu- ation I am unable to join the army, I plan to enter college." N Otto Voit Academic. Band 10, 11, 125 Chorus 12: Orchestra 10, 11, 125 Dance Band 10, 115 Hall Patrol 11, 127 Swimming 11, 125 Hi-Y 12. "Oscar," who towers to the height of 6 feet 11,5 inches, is one of the musically minded seniors. After graduation, he hopes to attain the high notes in the field of chemical engineering or to continue his studies at a military academy. Marvin Weaver Academic. "Marv," one of the more quiet lads of the class, spends his leisure time doing me- chanical drawing. He likes chemistry and math and gives football a top-notch rating in the field of sports. After graduation. "Slug" intends to pursue a course in mechanical engineering, if Uncle Sam does not call him first. Joseph Ilg Academic. Band 10, 11, 125 Chorus 12: Debating 113 Orcheatra io, 11: Hall Patrol 10, 11, 12. This tall husky fellow is often seen joking or dancing. Joe's hobby is automobile racing. He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Guard. After graduation he hopes to join foreign convoy duty, driving army equipment. Keep 'em rolling! Nita Boyer Academic. Orchestra IIJ, 11, 125 Girl Reserves 125 Chorus 12g Muhltohi 12: National Honor Society 12. "Nits" is a girl who likes to hear and tell good jokes and then laugh heartily. Collecting things - house plans, recipes, match covers, etc. -- is her hobby. She was also very active in Girl Reserves work, having been senior treasurer of the club. Nita plans to be a nurse. s X K Mary I-Iimmelreich Commercial. Girl Reserves 123 G.. A. A. 10, 12. "Himmy," a brown-eyed, dimpled lass is one of the more talkative members of the senior class. Her hobby is driving her dad's "'36 Chevvyf' After leaving school, Mary would like to further her commercial interests by do- ing general office work. , s . Gloria Ebersole c0I'YIl'YlGI'Clal. Every Saturday night this brown-haired lass can be seen at a local skating rink where she indulges in her favorite sport. When her feet aren't rolling over some fioor her eyes are rolling over an interesting book, because reading is another one of "Glo's" hobbies. Gloria's ambition is to be an efficient secretary. Harold Degler Industrial. This brown-eyed lad rates fishing and reading non-Iic- tion books as his most in- teresting pastimes. He en- joys shop more than any other subject in school. At present he is a truck driver after school and Sat- urdays. After the war he would like to make this his vocation. May you "drive" your way to success. xv! Anna Phillips C0l'TlWl8I'Cl3I. Anna is a talkative girl with a bright smile and teasing ways. Her laughter often was heard coming from the 12D homeroom. She is popular with the oposite sex and enjoys cor- responding with a certain fellow in the navy. After graduation Anna wants to become a typist. Louis Canto lnzlustrial. Track 11: National Honor Society 12. This athletically inclined lad rates soccer as his favor- ite sport and plays on a Reading soccer team. "D. A." is one of the lively seniors and is Well liked by the students. Louie plans to enter the military aviation field, if possible, after graduation. By warbling in several choruses, playing the piano and attending various musi- cal concerts, this happy, friendly lad expresses his interest in music. Morris plans to take a pre- medical course at ' Albright College. Frank Pegg Academic. Hall Patrol 125 Stage 10, 11, 125 Chorus 12. Here is an up-and-around young man who served as vice-president of the 12A homeroom in his senior year. "Peggie'sl' hobby, radio, prompts him to try to attend R. C. A. Radio School if the army does not get him first. May you "tune in" to a hap- py future. William Miller Academic. Band10,11,12g Orchestra 10, 11, 12: Dance sand 10, 11: Hi-Y 12, Basketball 12: Baseball 11: NHUOIIHI Honor Society 12: ch0I'Ul 12. "Billy the kid" is the youngest member of the class. Being president of the class and the Hi-Y and play- ing varsity basketball have been the high spots of Bill's high school career. May the melodious tones of his Cornet bring success. Sterling Heim Commercial. Hall Patrol 10, 11, 12: chorus 129 Band 10, 11: Basketball 10, 11, 12. "Heimie" is one of the tall- er members of the class. He served as varsity basketball manager and secretary of the Hall Patrol during his senior year. Sterling's cry is "Fun for all and all for fun." Sterling would like to en- ter the army. Earl Dunkle c0I'Nl'Yl6I'Cl3l. Earl participated in inter- class soccer and basketball during his senior year. It is said that this lad is one who is quiet in a noisy sort of way. Earl spends most of his spare time work- ing in a local restaurant. Earl has made no definite plans for the future. His classmates wish him success in his after-graduation days. Donald Shunk Academic. Chorus 123 Hall Patrol 10, 11, 12. Meet this tall senior who likes the outdoors and roams in the woods in all seasons. He classes hunting as "the" sport. "Shunky," a corporal in th e Pennsylvania Sta te Guard, helped to train other seniors in military routine. His ambition is to become a forest ranger. venty-seven --i '43 Ti L' S? 0-1.
