A Doris 'Miller Commercial: Basketball 11, 12: Chorus 12: Girl Reserves 12. Small, jovial, and red nair describe Doris, who ser- ved as secretary to Miss F. Keller, commercial teacher, during her senior year. Peg rates basketball tops in the line of sports and played the position of guard on the girls' varsity basket- ball team. As to the future she is un- decided what she wants to do, but the class wishes her success and the best of luck. Dorothy Lindenmuth Commercial: Chorus 12: Basketball 12: Girl Reserves 12: Observer 12: 0. c.. A. Club 12. Dot is one of the athletic- ally inclined members of the class and played guard on the girls' varsity basketball team. Besides being head typist of the Observer staff she also served as secretary to L. B. Mearig, history and journa- lism teacher. After graduation Dorothy hopes to obtain a secretarial position. Schnick is president of the Girl Reserves and a member of the National Honor Society. , Betty rates dfmcing ace high and can often be seen in the gym hopping to the latest song hits. Eating chicken patties is one of Goon's'i favorite pastimes, while bicycling runs a close second. To be a waitress in a club is Betty's greatest ambition. Dorothy Phillips Commercial: Cheerleading 12: Obser- ver 12: Debating 10, 11, 12: Chorus 12: Little Theatre Club 12: National Honor Society 11, 12: Girl Reserves 12: Quill and Scroll 12. Dottymae is one of the more active girls in the sen- ior class, Whose prize posses- sion is her senior life saving certificate. . Dot took leads in. sev- eral major dramatic produc- tions during her high school career and is the only senior who spoke on the varsity de- bating team for three years. Phil hopes to study dra- matics after graduation. Catharine Degler Commercial: 0. G. A. Club 12. Catharine joined the class during her senior year, ori- ginally being a pupil of Reading Senior High School. Tootie likes basketball, volleyball, hiking, and sight- seeing trips. In the evening Catharine enjoys reading and listening to radio stories. Catharine served as sec- retary to Miss M. E. Gring, English teacher, and hopes to become a secretary after graduation. Florence Reed Commercial: Chorus.125 Girl Reserves 12. Flossy classes shorthand her best-liked subject in school, and in her senior year she served as secretary to Miss F. A. M. Rahn, health teacher. In leisure time dancing rates tops with Floss, but baseball and basketball are other favorites. You can go a long way in this world if you try, Flor- ence. Dorothy Kiehl Commercial: Chorus 125 Observer 125 Girl Reserves 125 Little Theatre Club 12. This talkative lass hailing from Spring Valley was fourth page editor of the Ob- server during her senior year. Dot likes to participate in all sports. She places flower gardening as her hobby. Tall, slim and light-com- plexioned well describe this 12B- miss who was secretary to J. E. Harris, history tea- cher, during her senior year. Emma lists playing ten- nis and skating as her favor- ite sports. She was a mem- ber of the girls' track team for three years. Emma Mae chooses typing as a future profession. May good fortune be her guide in the future. June Bender Commercial: 0. G. A. Club 125 Chorus 125 Band 11, 12. June is one of the few girls in the senior class who does not have a nickname. She played first clarinet in the band for three years and was one of the four persons who represented Muhlenberg in the All-Eastern District Band of Pennsylvania. After graduation June plans to go to McCan1'1's School of Business. May she find success as she follows her business career. Virginia Rogers Commercial: Art Club 125 Chorus 125 Girl Reserves 12. Doing things - at home, sports of all kinds, and danc- ing are among the favorite pastimes of this energetic senior. Ginny says she likes his- tory best of all her subjects, especially the work on bud- gets and class discussions of domestic applications. After graduation Virginia would like to find a job. Betty Bach Commercial: Chorus 125 0. G. A. Club 12. Betty is another of the more quiet girls of the class and ranks English and office practice her favorite subjects. Writing poetry is Backy's hobby. She already has had one poem published. Betty also likes to travel. To obtain a position as a typist in a newspaper oflice is Betty's aim for the future. Violet Reed Commercial: Chorus 12: Handwork Club 12. This quiet, brown-eyed 12B miss served as secretary to Miss E. E. Staudt, history teacher, during her senior year. Violet likes to embroider and read in her spare mo- ments. She enjoys hiking and basketball, too. Violet would like to find a position as a secretary in some olifice after graduation. Class of '40 hopes you will find success. Ruth Benner Commercial: Chorus 12, 0. G. A. Club 12. Snooks, a demure, stu- dious, little girl who has taken an active part in school operettas and music pro- grams has the ambition to become a singer with a pop- ular orchestra. Ruthie served as secretary to J. W. White, mathematics teacher, during her senior year. After graduation Ruth would like to obtain a secre- tarial position. Catherine Sofianos Commercial: Chorus 125 Little Theatre Club 12. Say it with flowers is a saying that can often be heard coming from this Gre- cian miss of the senior class. Sophie works in her father's flower shop and hopes to con- tinue as a Florist after gradu- ation. Reading is her favorite pastime and she can often be found with a book in her hand. Geraldine is one of the more active girls in the class and participates in almost any athletic event that comes along. Jerrie is a great admirer of dogs and has one as a pet. Her hobby is collecting arti- cles for her hope chest. Jerrie was the class secre- tary during her junior and senior years and hopes to se- cure a secretarial position after graduation. This quiet, studious and diminutive red-haired miss classes sewing and collecting dolls from various countries as her favorite pastimes. Ginny served as secretary to C. Burg, history teacher, :luring her senior year. In her junior year, she represented Muhlenberg in bookkeeping at the annual commercial contests held at Bloomsburg. In the future, Virginia would like to obtain a posi- tion in the commercial field. Edith Oxenreider Commercial: Chorus 12: Handwork Club 12. This good natured miss rates reading and making equipment for her hope chest as her most interesting pas- times. Edie enjoys all types of sports and was a member of the girls' track team.
