Betty Bach Commercial: Chorus 125 0. G. A. Club 12. Betty is another of the more quiet girls of the class and ranks English and office practice her favorite subjects. Writing poetry is Backy's hobby. She already has had one poem published. Betty also likes to travel. To obtain a position as a typist in a newspaper oflice is Betty's aim for the future. Violet Reed Commercial: Chorus 12: Handwork Club 12. This quiet, brown-eyed 12B miss served as secretary to Miss E. E. Staudt, history teacher, during her senior year. Violet likes to embroider and read in her spare mo- ments. She enjoys hiking and basketball, too. Violet would like to find a position as a secretary in some olifice after graduation. Class of '40 hopes you will find success. Ruth Benner Commercial: Chorus 12, 0. G. A. Club 12. Snooks, a demure, stu- dious, little girl who has taken an active part in school operettas and music pro- grams has the ambition to become a singer with a pop- ular orchestra. Ruthie served as secretary to J. W. White, mathematics teacher, during her senior year. After graduation Ruth would like to obtain a secre- tarial position. Catherine Sofianos Commercial: Chorus 125 Little Theatre Club 12. Say it with flowers is a saying that can often be heard coming from this Gre- cian miss of the senior class. Sophie works in her father's flower shop and hopes to con- tinue as a Florist after gradu- ation. Reading is her favorite pastime and she can often be found with a book in her hand. The class wishes you much luck, Catherine. Geraldine Anderson Commercial: Chorus 12: National Honor Society 12: Basketball 12: Handwork Club 12. Geraldine is one of the more active girls in the class and participates in almost any athletic event that comes along. Jerrie is a great admirer of dogs and has one as a pet. Her hobby is collecting arti- cles for her hope chest. Jerrie was the class secre- tary during her junior and senior years and hopes to se- cure a secretarial position after graduation. Burg, history teacher, :luring her senior year. In her junior year, she represented Muhlenberg in bookkeeping at the annual commercial contests held at Bloomsburg. A Doris 'Miller Commercial: Basketball 11, 12: Chorus 12: Girl Reserves 12. Small, jovial, and red nair describe Doris, who ser- ved as secretary to Miss F. Keller, commercial teacher, during her senior year. Peg rates basketball tops in the line of sports and played the position of guard on the girls' varsity basket- ball team. As to the future she is un- decided what she wants to do, but the class wishes her success and the best of luck. Dorothy Lindenmuth Commercial: Chorus 12: Basketball 12: Girl Reserves 12: Observer 12: 0. c.. A. Club 12. Dot is one of the athletic- ally inclined members of the class and played guard on the girls' varsity basketball team. Besides being head typist of the Observer staff she also served as secretary to L. B. Mearig, history and journa- lism teacher. After graduation Dorothy hopes to obtain a secretarial position. Introducing you to an am- bitious miss of the home eco- nomics section who served as Girl Reserve refreshment committee chairman and has been one of the most active workers in the kitchen at various teas, dinners and luncheons during the last year. Mae is fond of dancing as a pastime. She classes sewing as her favorite subject. A f t e r graduation Mae would like to become a wait- ress at a soda fountain. Mary Ellen Hellman Academic: National Honor Society 125 Little Theatre Club 12: Orchestra 11, 12: Band 10, 11, 12: Chorus 12. Should you hear some sweet clarinet strains coming from behind a closed door it's ten to one that it is Mary Ellen practising. This little but mighty miss took part in Camp Fire and Little 'Theatre Club produc- tions as well as the class play. Her ambition is to become a music teacher. Here's a note to success, Mary Ellen. Eleanor Schubert Commercial: Chorus 12: Girl Reserves 12: National Honor Society 11, 123 Observer 12: M Club 12: Basket- ball 11, 12: Track 11, 12: Tennis 11, 12: Little Theatre Club 12: Debating 11, 12: Quill and Scroll 12. Eleanor is sweet sixteen, the youngest and one of the more versatile members of the senior class. During her senior year her interests centered around girls' sports, Girl Reserves work and journalism. Eleanor's many qualities will assure her of success in whatever position she ac- quires after leaving school. Marjorie Boyer Academic: Art Club 123 Chorus 12. Whenever there is a con- cert or a lecture held within reasonable distance it is very likely you'll find this quiet miss among those present. Margie spends much of her leisure time making scrap- books, and during the sum- mer months indulges in her favorite sports, which are swimming and badminton. Marjorie has made no Final decision as to what she will do after graduation, but the class wishes her luck and success. Raymond E. Boyer Industrial: Chorus 12. Raymond is another one ol' the taller members of the class, reaching to a height of six feet. Bud , as he is known to his friends, rates shop as his favorite subject. He consumes most of his spare time by target shoot- ing. After graduation Bud is going to General Motors Automobile School, Flint, Mich. Good luck, Bud . Dorwin Searfoss Industrial: Hunting and Fishing Club 12: Chorus 12. Although Dorwin has no definite plans his main aim is to get a job after grad- uation. Metal shop is Duddie's best liked subject. He thinks nothing is quite so much fun as playing soccer and he may be seen doing this in his spare time. May you reach your goal of success, Dorwin. A Charles Brown General: Chorus 12. t'Charlie is an air minded individual, as his main in- terest lies in flying. After graduation he intends to join the United States Army Air Corps. Richard Bare Academic: Basketball 12: Athletic Club 12: National Honor Society 12. Participating in sports is the way in which Fat likes to spend his time. Besides playing forward on the var- sity basketball team, Bare also played baseball. When not enagaged in some sport Fat also likes to work on the farm.
