Winnsboro Mills, largest and oldest of United States Rubber Company's textile plants, was originally known as the Fairfield Cotton Mills, which was organized in 1898. Having steadily increased in size and efficiency, the plant has been the county's major industry for many years and currently employs approximately 1, 200 workers. Among the principal products of Winnsboro Mills are rayon and nylon tire cord and fabric, synthetic knitting yam, synthetic floor covering, and tufting yarn. Classes Page Eleven
