How well we remember that first year of our high school days. Young frightened and very green, we began our journey through Mount Zion 1950-51 yes, that was the year. Initiation-------------we had it. The boys were required to wear girls' dresses, shoes, and stockings; the girls were required to wear short skirts and men's shoes; no bobbie pins could be worn in their hair. We can still see each other walking around, with the girls' hair hanging in their faces--------and we recall the boys' long shapely legs. 1951-52----That year we began to really grow up. Mingling with members of different clubs and becoming acquainted with the more difficult subjects such as Latin and Citizenship was easy for us and we enjoyed every minute of it. 1952-53----Our good times continued. We were really going places. Lower classmen began to recognize us. In the spring, the girls received a taste of the Junior-Senior Banquet. We had the pleasure of serving the Juniors and Seniors. Several members of our class were chosen as representatives for the State Mental Contest in Columbia. 1953-54---Last year seemed to fly by. Some of us were initiated into the Beta Club. Some were chosen as Marshals and Ushers for graduation, mental contestants and representatives for Boy's State and Girl's State. From the time we had entered high school, we had looked forward to the day when we would attend the highlight of the year-----The Junior-Senior Banquet and Dance. We chose as our theme Show Boat11. To make our Junior-Senior a success was our goal when we all worked in the football concessions, gave the Junior Circus, and presented the Junior Class play, Girl Shy . Our efforts were not in vain, on May 7 the tired Juniors played host to the gay Seniors and to us the gym never looked lovelier. 1954-55----And now we are Seniors, all the joys of becoming Seniors have been ours---presenting our Senior play, Pure as the Driven Snow , being guest at a wonderful Junior-Senior, choosing Senior Superlatives, Marshals, Ushers, and Mascots for graduation, class night, and graduation speaker s. This has been a wonderful year, and it holds many memories for all of us. We have shared laughter and tears in joy and in sorrow but always togeth- er. Well, it is almost over. On Tuesday, May 24, 1955 we will reach the end of our journey. It has been a happy journey--One we can never forget---- Our journey through Mount Zion High School. Article 1 We leave our empty, hard, small desks to the Junior Class. Article 2 We congratulate our weary teachers who have been able to survive us these many years. We also leave our thanks and appreciation to those who have guided us on our way. Article 3 We leave to the Junior Class our quiet and orderly Senior Class Meetings. Article 4 The Senior Phys. Ed. boys and girls leave a neat and orderly dressing room in the gym. Article 5 The Senior typists leave their clean, erasure-dust-free type- writers with the hope that the future typists will keep them as clean. Article 6 We leave you our empty classrooms with the hope that you, the rising seniors, will use them as we did. Article 7 Bobbie Anne Jones leaves to Selwyn Pearson her musical ability. Jerry Ban leaves to Ellison Collins his ability to annoy all the girls. We hope he won't make this a habit. Dorothy Kirkpatrick leaves her friendly ways to Bunny Hen- derson. To Gerald Wilkerson, Birdie Broome leaves her careful way of driving. Betty Crawford leaves to Opal Lee Collins her athletic ability. We're a cinch to win all the games next year. Tommy Edmunds leaves his masculine appeal to Robert Dean, although Robert has plenty of his own. William Goforth leaves to Jerry Branham, Homer Childers, and Harold Starnes his “brains.”' Knowing Goforth, there will he more than enough. Joe Owens wills to Sonny Satterfield and Joe Patrick his quiet and peaceful ways. Marie Driggers wills to Pauline Dunlap her quiet ways. She does this with the rising Senior Class in mind. J. W. Joye leaves to Jimmy Cox and James Kirby his athletic ability. To Bobby Hollis, Acie Scott leaves his ability to play the drums on a desk and sing at the same time. Billy Waters leaves his wit to Jerry Tanner and Bobby Dan- iels. Tilings will really “rock” next year. Tal Bartlett leaves his neat appearance to Freeman Hutson and Lindsay Baker. Billy Bell leaves his ability to “Blush” to Billy Smith. We hope he won’t find it necessary very often. Mr. Buddy Reynolds and Mrs. Rachel Crouch leave the ability to maintain a peaceful household to any future home- maker in the rising senior class.
