R D HORSMAN, Acting Principal 0 H. V. HERLINCER: Our forefathers, yours and mine, had a deep and abiding love for this country-it was for them to live and die by that love. Theirs was no blind emotion, but a clear and abiding and disturbing thing. It was not the size, nor the wealth, nor the climate, but a deep and lasting belief that here was an opportunity to set up those ideals liberty that men had struggled, sacrificed, and died for Ages. You, the young people of this community, have opportunities and privileges our forefathers made possible that this precious heritage is safe in your hands. of freedom and throughout the enjoyed all the lt is our belief R. D. HORSMAN: Sometimes we do not appreciate our most privileged possessions. We have been partakers of one of the most priceless offer- ings under a democracy-a system of free public schools. When we have enjoyed the advantages of these schools we must not feel that our part in their operation has been completed. Those who have gone before ex- pressed their appreciation by assuring us that we might benefit from their experiences, now, it is our duty to repay them by protecting these privileges for those who are to follow,
