C., WEQRE O OUR WA I That was the cry of some fifty-nine seniors as we left the Winton Place Station on March 9, 1955, with Mr. and Mrs. Harding and Mrs. Wortmann as chaperones. Anticipation had been mounting for many weeks, and now the annual trip to Washington was becoming a reality for us. After a good night's sleep Q? ? 'U and breakfast on the train, we were eager to begin the day. This first day included a tour of historic Fort McHenry and the State House in Baltimore. Following this, we visited the Naval Academy at Annapolis, where we dined in style at the Carvel House. Immediately after this, we boarded our busses for Washington, where We were privileged to see the Senate and the House of Representatives in session in the Capitol Building. The Harrington Hotel was our next stop and our home for afew days. That evening after dinner at the hotel, a sight-seeing tour of the Lincoln and Jeffer- son Memorials and the Congressional Library cli- maxed the day. On Friday and Saturday following, we toured with great interest the Washington Monument fwith its eight hundred and ninety-eight steps to climbj, the White House, Mt. Vernon, Smithsonian Institute, government buildings, and embassies. At 6:30 Saturday evening, the weary seniors boarded the train for home after the most wonderful time of their lives. All of us felt a great deal more pride in the nation whose capitol we had just visited.
