Hats Ibm y September 7 T948 A warm typtcal late summer day However for 102 young students conventng at Mt Healthy Hugh School the weather held lnttle Interest They were far more excnted by something else that day Some of them came on school busses some nn cars some walked Some of them were nervous some thoughtful some happlly exclted As they arrtved they took thelr first real look at that bulldlng where so many thmgs were destuned to happen They saw others strangers they dad not know but who were ln the next years to become therr frlends They stood patiently as grlnnlng upperclassmen admrmstered that peculnar experience lnltnatlon They stood In strange rooms and halls stared at the teachers and wondered about each other They were reacting no dtfferently than thousands of others that day or an the past had done They were freshmen They soon became accustomed to the routme of the school and had the tame to become acquarnted wlth each other They managed to lrve through all their exams and tests and found that thetr first year was passing swtftly Their second year was much the some but wnth a few exceptlons They no longer thought of themselves as groups from Ftnneytown Monfort Hetghts Mt Healthy or Springdale They were all part of a class now They were sophomores ln thetr tumor year they were something more They became a class wnth a purpose They worked selltng soft drunks and hot dogs at the football and basketball games They gave several dances Why? Because they wanted to guve the sensors a prom And they dad They ll never forget the fun they had on the mght of May 26 They chose theur rings that year and they were proud to be members of thelr class the tumors of T951 September 5 l95'l A day very much luke the September 7 of three years ago But there was a dtfference On that day they were a group of students begtnmng four of the most Important years of their lrves Thus time they were a class and they were begnnnmg theur last year A tnme for a trnge of sadness perhaps but they were far too busy for that Most of them were busy wtth the clubs and actlvltles around the school They presented the annual sentor play They took a trlp to Washtngton They went to partues and dances They even kept an eye on thelr school work durtng that flnal stretch And flnally the calendar caught up with them Baccalaureate on June l and on June 6 Commencement Thelr record at Mt Healthy ns ended they are no longer a part of the school But the real story rs not flnlshed for through the years the events the classmates the teachers the school wtll rematn alrve un thetr memories And they wnll always be proud that each and every one of them was a member of the Class of 52 1 ' 1 ' 1 1 . , .
