PAGE TWO FOREWORD THE STATELY CARRIER, ZEM ZEM, has Weathered the storms of 1944-45 and is about to drop anchor in Mt. Healthy Harbor. The lookout has been in the crow's nest continuously during the journey and has turned in accurate accounts to be entered in the ship's log. He has seen the seamen hard at work swabbing decks, for they were the beginners: he noticed the petty officers preparing for advancement: he observed the Ensigns, striving for the rank of lieutenant: and he gazed With admiration upon those who have reached the end of the term of enlistment, and are now ready to embark upon many ships of different types on the Sea of Life. In the pages of this book are pre- served the records of activities and events of the voyage, culled from the log of the Zem Zem.
