orever ifty. . . Fifty years ago marked the turn of a new century and also a revolution in the ideas and thoughts of the people. The twentieth century was destined to become the most progressive era since the beginning of mankind not only in scientiiic progress but also in cultivating a love for the highest attributes of life. During school we, the class of '50, have developed for ourselves the keen judgment and wisdom required to carry us forward to fame and success, but fame is secondary to something far more satisfying and lasting-understanding. We will find much peril and many hardships achieving this faculty, but once it is conquered, we shall be fortified to undertake the long and tedious journey of life. The pioneers of the nineteenth century were never so well prepared. We owe much to the patricians , our teachers and leaders, who have taught us the value of understanding and just how we might use this device to the best of our ability. They have shown us the errors and failures of the world and have directed our course far from the path of destruction that we may live this second half of the twentieth century in peace and good will. Let us hope we do not fall into that deplorable pit that can destroy us all. We, as the judges of 1950, owe our sincerest thanks to the Plebs , the underclassmen, who have helped to make our school days a great and joyous success. They have stirred within us the initiative to move to greater heights of ambition and have given us persever- ance to endure the many disappointments which walk hand-in-hand with life. ' Surely with all the courage, ability, and fortitude which we have acquired during our school years we, the class of 1950, will find the key to success and happiness, and will be among the leaders of this century-the golden age of opportunity.
