FOREWORD :lIliN ORDER that the class of 1942-43 may always have with them the memories of their high school days, the Staff of The CARMELITEU presents this book as a brief review of their life at Mt. Carmel Senior High School during the past year. The CARMELITE,,, this year, is of far more significance than previous years. We have experienced some of the far- reaching effects of war. We have had to curtail various sections of our book because of shortage of necessary mate- rials and limited time. Many of our boys have already entered some branch of the armed forcesg after graduation more of the boys and many girls will assume the burden of this great conflict. It is the hope of the staff that this book will serv as an incentive in future 'endeavors to the members of the class, Wherever they may be, and whatever they may do. We offer this book as another proof of a great democracy. In it can be found concrete examples of a free country and a free people. Take this book with you on your journey through life as it represents one of the freedoms for which we are fighting.
