The echo of lockers slamming, voices yelling, and feet shuffling. There also exists an air of expectancy. Any moment the bell might ring, bringing hundreds of students into the hall. One feels the presence of some- thing unseen, whether the halls are empty or full. Often students have had a fleeting glimpse ofa shadow flittering about the hall. An elu- sive shadow which, when looked at directly, disappears. . . ii,
