The teachers' goal is to develop the stu- dent's mind so that he is able to express his own ideas on paper. Studying a language contributes to a widening horizon, through contact with other ideas and other people's way of thinking. To teach his students to become self-suf- ficient has been Mr. Hughes goal this year. He feels that in Shop, students should be able to go ahead on their own initiative. Learning to make decisions on their own is an ability which will help them not only in Shop, but in all phases of life. This was also the goal of lVlr. Ford and Mr. Sirguy in their respective fields of music and art. For the second year at Baker, the eighth grade students have benefited from the advantages of team teaching in their Humanities Class. ln this relatively new class, Mr. Ford and Mr. Sirguy work to- gether to promote understanding of art and music, in relationship lu tne develop- ment of man.
