Zn? I - xx .,v' 2 ADMINISTRATION Planning class schedules, supervising classes, and handing out dreaded pink slips or cherished green ones, are only a few of the responsibilities of our admini- stration. Much of their private time and energy is devoted to dances, games, club projects, and other student activities. Mr. Johnson, in his seventh year at Baker, has shown his concern for the students through his many unselfish efforts on their behalf. This year, in addition to teaching, Mr. Headlee has taken over the responsibilities of Vice-Principal. With Mrs. Syre and Mr. Rose as counselors, no one at Baker can feel he is friendless. They have the job of establishing and main- taining personal contact with the students. Through individual conferences with the students, they guide and direct them in college and vocational plans.

The teachers' goal is to develop the stu- dent's mind so that he is able to express his own ideas on paper. Studying a language contributes to a widening horizon, through contact with other ideas and other people's way of thinking. To teach his students to become self-suf- ficient has been Mr. Hughes goal this year. He feels that in Shop, students should be able to go ahead on their own initiative. Learning to make decisions on their own is an ability which will help them not only in Shop, but in all phases of life. This was also the goal of lVlr. Ford and Mr. Sirguy in their respective fields of music and art. For the second year at Baker, the eighth grade students have benefited from the advantages of team teaching in their Humanities Class. ln this relatively new class, Mr. Ford and Mr. Sirguy work to- gether to promote understanding of art and music, in relationship lu tne develop- ment of man.
