COMMANDI G OFFICER A.-4 CAPTAIN BRUNO MUSSETTO, USN Captain Bruno Mussetto, USN, graduated from Swarthmore College in June 1946 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Me- chanical Engineering, and was commissioned Ensign with year group 1947. His tours of sea duty have included: First Lieutenantof USS NORTHHAMPTON CCLC-lj, Operations Officer and Executive Of- ficer of USS OLMSTED CLPA-1885, Operations Officer of USS MOUNT MCKINLEY CAGC-753 and Commanding Officer of USS CAR- TER HALL CLSD-3D. He has served in the Harbor Defense Unit, Norfo1k3W2S with Joint Task Force Seven during Operation CASTLE, served Wlth Mine Hunting Unit, Norfolk, and was on the staff of COMPHIBLANT- Captain Mussetto is agraduate of theNavyGeneral Line School, and completed postgraduate study at the U.S. Naval Posfgfaduate School, Monterey, California in the Naval Engineering curriculum, majoring in Electrical Engineering. Immediately prior to assuming command of MOUNTRAIL on 9 December 1967, Captai.n Mussetto was Commanding Officer of the Dock Landing Ship CARTER HALL, homeported in Long Beach, California .

This is the story of a ship, the men who manned her, and a particu- lar cruise that ship made during the summer, fall, and early winter months of 1968. T The ship is the USS MOUNTRAIL QLPA-2133 and the cruise was Med- iterranean deployment 1968.
