COLLEGE DE DICATION lt is said that big oaks from little acorns grow. Although Mountlake Col- lege is beginning in a small way, there is every reason to believe that it will become a great school. This was the sentiment expressed by those who shared in the dedication program which was held Sunday afternoon, October 4, 1964. Representatives from the University of Washington, S ho r elin e Community College, Seattle Pacific College, and Everett Iunior College gave their en- couragements to Mountlake's venture of faith. The program was interspersed with excellent musical numbers. Dr. Lush assured the audience that Mount- lake College has been raised up at a critical time in the American Christian education movement, and that under God's blessing it will fulfill the funda- mental objectives for which it was es- tablished. Dr. Lush greeted special visitors Inspirational music was furnished by Mr. 6: Mrs. Iascha Galperin. 52 Rose Smoots played her flute.

WINTER RETREAT The first annual Mountlake Col- lege retreat was held in January at the General Baptist C o n f e r e n c e Grounds on beautiful Lake Retreat. T h e retreat was w e ll planned with excellent seminars on human relations , challenging s p ir i t u al messages , devotional periods , and times of fun and relaxation. Ex- cellent meals were served much to the delight of everyone at the re- treat. Special thanks are due to Mrs. Haakenson who planned the menues and directed the inexper- ienced in the ways of food prepar- ation and service. There were interesting happen- ings which will linger long as mem- ories of this college outing. The Three Muskateersn made history when a midnight attack was made on the men' s quarters . The aroma of the occasion will never be for- gotten, especially by Ed Hartman. No one escaped his share of KP duty, professionals, semi-profes- sionals , a n d non-professionals , even if it meant getting up at 6:00 in the morning to make breakfast. These duties were especially bene- ficial in helping students to know each other better. Many were reluctant to leave when the retreat ended. The spir- itual empha s i s was a cord that tied the student body and faculty closer together. Future retreats will without a doubt have their successful points both spiritually and otherwise, but this first re- treat will always be remembered as having had those special qual- ities of uniting the interests and objectives of faculty and student alike. The lure of the great outdoors All packed and ready to go li, -annie. 'F Camp facilities were excellent
