COLLEGE DE DICATION lt is said that big oaks from little acorns grow. Although Mountlake Col- lege is beginning in a small way, there is every reason to believe that it will become a great school. This was the sentiment expressed by those who shared in the dedication program which was held Sunday afternoon, October 4, 1964. Representatives from the University of Washington, S ho r elin e Community College, Seattle Pacific College, and Everett Iunior College gave their en- couragements to Mountlake's venture of faith. The program was interspersed with excellent musical numbers. Dr. Lush assured the audience that Mount- lake College has been raised up at a critical time in the American Christian education movement, and that under God's blessing it will fulfill the funda- mental objectives for which it was es- tablished. Dr. Lush greeted special visitors Inspirational music was furnished by Mr. 6: Mrs. Iascha Galperin. 52 Rose Smoots played her flute.

The first All School Orientation took place on Tuesday night, Sep- tember 3O, 1964. Students and faculty met to become acquainted with each other and with the pro- gram of the college for the coming year. The tone for lVlountlake's first y e a r was immediately s e t by the enthusiastic response of all present to the challenge that a new college offers. The more formal part of the evening was followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. A cake decorated with an appro- priate motif for the occasion was served with tea and coffee . l?
