This year a new sports program was initiated on campus. With the assist- ance of the Physical Education Department and the Student Associ- ation, Mr. Steven Bottroff formed Intramural Sports. The games are played once a week, on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The main objective of Intramural Sports is to enhance the physical culture of our curriculum. Pre- viously, physical education classes provided the only opportunity for participation in sports. Intramural Sports have also greatly improved school spirit. Iersey's were purchased and we now have a cheering section. Many parents have supported the games by their attendance. Sports have helped to improve the re- lationship between the school and the parents. A 'r K .

On the Saturday evening of December 14, the students of Mountain View Academy entertained more than one hundred under- privileged children from the Head Start program in San Francisco. The children, aged three to eight, were brought to the gymnasium in buses. Each student couple had several children as their special guests. Inside the gym were streamers, a huge Christmas tree, and many other attractions. The most popular seemed to be the school trampoline. After games and refreshments, A Charlie Brown Christ- mas was shown in the chapel. Santa Claus then made his appearance. The children each received a present brought for him by his escort. This Student Association-sponsored pro- ject was planned through the combined efforts of the social and religious activities committees. CHRISTMAS PARTY 91
