Captain Dene Baker and Rex McGuire were among the honorable mention. Duane Pitchford was third highest scorer in the state of Arkansas and first in District One, with a total of lil points. ' Q Several items of the past basketball season deserve special mention. Moun- tain Home held its first invitational tournament in the high school gym, January ll-lo. The final game of the senior boys' division was the first game to be broadcast over the local station. The tourney drew the largest crowd ever in the Mountain Home gym. Mountain Home senior boys won in the first round, but lost in the second round. Standing: Newt Nelson, Duane Pitchford, Robert Hall, Ed Lofton, Jim Heenan, Coach Walters. Kneeling: Jerry Horn, William Casebolt, Jerry Scott, Marvin Martin, Jim Walton, Roy Dale Jennings. Mr. Lofton and the Pep Club should be thanked for their successful running of the concession stand during the basketball season. The Mountain Home Athletic Department purchased a new popcorn machine. The senior boys and senior girls journeyed to Springdale, January 29, to play for the first time in the 27th Northwest Arkansas Invitational Tour- nament. The senior girls won in their first round, but also, they lost in the second round. Standing: Coach Sharp, Myrna Stephens, Phyllis Bacherl, Joyce Sherman, Cindy Dew, Mary Cowart Lu Pickens. Kneeling: Jo Ann Jordan, Bobbie Morris, Velma Sue Bradley, Alma Deatherage, Shirley Tucker, Wanda Morris.
