J fy ,MQW fmfe of We A ffytypbgs Vx?- Shown in the insert are Ella Hargraves, The Mountain Home Chapter of F,H.A. was one of the fifteen in the state to qualify as an Honor Roll Chapter. Betty Douglas, a member of the National Finance Committee, was the only Arkansas girl holding a na- tional position. The chapter had two Federa- tion officersz Jane Messick, historian, Sissy Baker, song leader. Miss Bailey, the state F.H.A. advisor, reported that the Mountain Home Chapter was the most active in the United States in l953. As one of the year's proiects, the third year class made velvet drapes for the Baptist Church baptistry. The classes also donated clothing and household articles to a local family whose home burned. Betty Douglas, and Marilyn Duro, who attended the National F.H.A. Convention in Columbus, Ohio. Miss Holloway also attended as one of the tive teachers se- lected by the state advisor of F.H.A. to chaperon the eighty-six Arkansas girls. .714 x 1 X , mn X Above, Mamie Garner demonstrates proper nail care to Marlys Hagen while Shirley Downing, Mary Lou Sher- man, and Delerna Vawter watch.
