The Director of Development is responsible for the overall management, planning and implementa- tion of a program which supports the school’s mis- sion and generates support from alumni, parents, friends, corporation and foundations. A development officer is a versatile personality who performs many different tasks. He is an ambas- sador, a negotiator, an interpreter, a salesman, 4 planner, a researcher, a juggler, and a person with a good sense of humor and balance. A successful development program depends upon good communication between the school and all of its interested parties. Development attracts friends, promotes the school’s mission and goals, speaks about our talents, and nurtures the dialogue between the school and all whom it serves. Development requires a long-term effort and the involvement of many people. It demands pas- sion, dedication and energy, and | am looking for- ward to the challenge. The Class of 1988 has 11 stu- dents who have at least one parent who graduated form MDS.
