What is a Salesian?’ (Editor's Note: During the 1985 Publications Drive, we overheard several students trying to figure out what the Salesian means. The closest translation we can come up with is ‘of de Sales’, meaning that our yearbook is named in honor of the patron saint of our school, St. Francis de Sales. It then occured to us that many MDS students might be unfamiliar with St. Francis de Sales, Perhaps this brief explanation will be illuminating. - Steve and Angi) St. Francis de Sales was born in 1567, shortly after the Lutheran Reformation had torn the religious fabric of medieval =U] ce) ol-marVi(-1am o)-1181¢ Me) ger-lia(-10 Mm Ce) the priesthood, he worked dili- gently for the reunification of Catholics and Protestants.
