Speidel, Goodrich, and Lille “Upon their third call to me and a discount in price. I hired them. That event took place in February ' 85. I wasn’t sure what the turnout would be and was expecting a loss. That night three people paid a $3 cover charge to hear Speidel, Goodrich, And Goggin. A month later, I un- successfully tried to bring them back to the Pub for a spring concert. Un- fortunately, they had just released an album, were touring Florida and changed members of their band. So, Dean Carroll suggested hav- ing them play during Orien- tation Week. We were both unsure how it would go over, nor the effect it would have on the start of the year. Dean Carroll and I, nervously, planned the event. When I left for New York, Tracey Jones became my D.C. contact for contract fees and signatures. When 1 returned in September, Tracey and 1 were prepared for the worst and thought about how much money we would lose. Then came the night of the event. Speidel. Goodrich, and Lille were supposed to start at 9:00 p.m. on September 19. There were 20 people in the pub; we all breathed heavily. By 11:00 there were 300 people enjoying the music of the group. Seven kegs of beer later, the party ended.
