Vernon Football Team finished the season with an 8 win, 0 loss record to mark the first year that Mount Vernon had produced an unde- feated football tearn. An inspired Mustang Eleven swept the conference for seven straight wins, and defeated the defending Wamac Conference Champs in the season's opener. This 'Was the smallest team, bothin stature and in num- ber, which Mt. Vernon had fielded in some years. Twenty-four men composed the entire team, consequently, the blunt of the playing fell on the shoulders of nine returning letterrnen and four eager replacements. The reserves saw ac- tion in most of the games. The will 'to win, unselfish team effort, a fine coaching staff, tremendous spirit, and added fire when the chips were down, resulted in the Winning combination of the Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference Champions .
