Greenhouse Starts To Bloom After three years of dreaming, planning, and building, the green¬ house in the senior courtyard fi¬ nally became a reality this spring. Three years ago, the greenhouse was not much more than a dream and a request for the county to supply one thousand dollars — enough to purchase the raw ma¬ terials. After one year, the county agreed to buy the school a green¬ house, and plans were drawn. Mon¬ ey and labor were then needed to construct the greenhouse from the newly acquired raw materials. The PTA, the SGA, and the science department provided the money, while the Unbeaten Path Club and the Plant Club, along with other volunteers, provided the labor. Vocational students from the Edi- son-Mt. Vernon cooperative pro¬ gram were responsible for the greenhouse ' s wiring, and commu¬ nity groups and individuals sup¬ plied the plants. Thus, through the patient and unselfish efforts of many, Mt. Vernon now has a last¬ ing treasure: the greenhouse. School Life —29
