A Cub The Art Club consists of students who are or were in an art class at Mount Vernon. Its purpose is to broaden interest in art throughout the school. Members participate in activities such as making clay pieces, painting, drawing, clay and shell iewelry and making posters. Each year the club sponsors bake sales, an art contest and a field trip to an exhibit at an art gallery, fol- lowed by sketching at Haines Point. We conducted sales at P.T.A. meetings, ot Christmas decorations and clay objects. The group was so large that it had to be divided into two groups with separate ofticers this year A coordinating group of tive students was elected who could attend meetings of both sections and draw the groups together if-wr Charles Trexler, Jean Trexler, Anne Flynt Mar iorie Locke, Barbara Slayton are studying the mechanics of poster-making. Waiting for their clay pieces to be taken from the molds are Marilyn Meserve Sandy Underwood Frances Matlock and Alice Hotchkiss Character Sketches are a must to every art student lntently studying the faces of their classmates are Joan Brunner Sara Shepperd Tommie Fife Ann Griffin Judy Ostler and Barth Reller Still life studies are an important part of the artists Students struggling with o new arrange ment are Sharon Pierce .loan Miller Janice Hamilton and Carolyn Pusey T
