QS The Class ot 1957 began their high school career by electing Edwin McBee, President, Barbara Logsdon, Vice- President, Kay Randles, Secretary, and Judy Mercer, Treasurer of their Freshman Class. They were introduced to high school social life when the Sophomores entertained them at the traditional Frosh-Sophomore dance. The climax ot their Hrst year activities was the April Fools' Day As- sembly which was presented tothe entire student body and won for the class the Best Assembly Award. As Sophomores, with the class treasury a little low, a dance was sponsored at the' Y , and the group had charge ot concessions at several games. They also became active in all other school affairs. Thirty students earned places in the Honor Society. Many of the boys earned Junior Varsity letters, and several girls came into posses- sion of Green M sweaters. In February the class presented the Sophomore assembly. Leading the class through this active year were President Dave Schink, Vice-President Barbara Logsdon, Secretary O. A, Gilbert, and Treasurer Carolyn Deming. As Juniors and upperclassmen, the class elected Bob Gross as their President, Vice-President was Jim Dixon, Secretary, Jacque Mays, and Treasurer, Ted Johnson. Juniors turned out enthusiastically for band, dramatics, choir, and other school activities and many of them won outstanding positions. Among these were Merle Sande, A.S.B. Assistant Treasurer, Lawrence Hanson, Gentleman Athlete in Basketball, Kay Randles and Joni Sund, school yell leaders, Bob Gross, state wrestling championship, Charlene Cook and Denise Stewart, Homecoming Prin- cesses, and Joanne Williamson, Miss Pep. Denise Stewart O I O and Dannie Davis were elected to represent their class as queen and king of the Junior Prom. Marilyn Sanford and her committee were in charge of decorations and pro- duced an intriguing South Sea background for this major social event. V As Seniors, Tom Friesen was elected President, Donnie Davis, Vice-President, Nancy Partington, Secretary, and Jacque Vogt, Treasurer. Moneyemaking activities again took a large share of class energy. Booster buttons and booster hats were sold, concessions at the games were handled, and dances sponsored to finance class activities. Members of the class dominated many school activities. Bob Gross was A.S.S. President, Jim Dixon Vice-President, Susan Everett, Secretary, and Merle Sande, Treasurer. Sharon Johnson was one ot the yell leaders. Paula Schacht, Denise Stewart, and Lorraine Van Waveren were song leaders. Kay Randles was Homecoming Queen. Two of her princesses were seniors-Charlene Cook and Elaine Clizbe. The Senior Ball, South Sea Magic, was presented at the Holiday Ballroom in December in coniunction with Sedro Woolley and Burlington. King and queen of the event from Mount Vernon were Bill Kelley and Elaine Clizbe. Another big senior activity in December was the Christmas assembly which was built around a minstrel show and was well received. Advising the seniors for this all-important year were Chairman Dene Lawson, Joe Day, Wilbur Wigner, Roger Ringstad, Minnie Gerriets, Joe Murphy, and Bertha Comp- ton.
