To the Students Your school board, elected by your parents and neighbors from ten different director districts, oversee the operation of Mount Vernon High School. The duties of this group are many, such as budgeting available funds, hiring administrative and teaching personnel, and setting up policy to be followed. All of this is done with but one thought in mind-to give the students the best in educational opportunities. We feel fortunate in having Mr. Wendell T. Phipps as superintendent and Miss Elin Anderson as sec- retary. Mr. Phipps works closely with the board and carries out their policies. Yes, serving as a board member is rewarding in many ways, especially when one hears of the accomp- lishments of students, and of the many graduates that have gone on to make a mark for themselves throughout the land. Such things certainly give us a feeling of satisfaction. Earl Hanson, Board Chairman 9 ,AQ
