Rent a wheelchair and use the elevator. 2. Climb the elevator cables. 3. Grab onto some big person's shirt and let him tow you. You know we are having a earthquake drill if: 1. See 1 on the tornado question. 2. There are short blasts on the new intercom system. 3. Mrs. Jones runs down the hall yelling, The sky is falling! The sky is falling! You know we are having a fire if: 1. The exit you are assigned to use is blocked by construction. 2. You smell smoke. 3. The teachers beat you out the door. You know we are having a tornado drill if: 1. The construction workers set off the fire alarm 2. The easiest way to find Mrs. Jones's office is to: 1. Volunteer to blow up balloons for Student Council. 2. Stuff a Freshman in a locker. 3. Grab a quick smoke in the bathroom. The best way to get from the relocatables to the science dept, and still be on time is to: 1. Cut through the courtyard. 2. Sprout wings and fly. 3. It's impossible! Run, baby, run!!! The easiest way to find the yearbook room is to: 1. Ask one of the staff members wandering the halls 7th period. 2. Follow the people coming back from Hardee's 7th period. 3. Follow the yelling and screaming voices. To find the choir department: 1. Listen for a Pee Wee Herman laugh. 2. Listen for people whining, We love you, Conrad ... 3. This year, frosted denim was the thing to wear; Raisin Guys were the things to have, and deck shoes were resurrected. Shaved hair was still worn by a few brave souls. In the first weeks, the cafeteria and the main hall were not the places to be. Construction dust, terrazza goop, and partitions were everywhere. As the year wore on, the construction wound down and new parts of the building were opened. The Commons was the new place to be at lunchtime, but the foyer remained the gathering place in the morning. 8 Student Life
