HIGH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION Mr. Goerlitz's ability to be flexible was the key to the successful management of a school building under construction. It was necessary that he facilitate the construction and at the same time continue to provide a quality program for the students. He had to be prepared on a monthly, weekly, and sometimes even a daily basis to adjust the school program in such a way that it did not interfere with the construction while maintaining the continuity of the educational process. Two of the problems Mr. Goerlitz dealt with were the last minute relocating of classes due to excessive noise or fumes and the timing, with a foreman, of the lifting of tons of pre-formed concrete over a student hallway so that no students were in the area during this potentially dangerous phase of overhead construction. Principal FLEXIBILITY WAS THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL YEAR UNDER CONSTRUCTION Tom Collins Director of Information Systems Mr. Collins is in charge of the man- agement of computer opera- tions. He also supervises the high school budget, the purchase of classroom equipment, and the maint iance of the building and grounds. Ann Jones Assistant Principal Mrs. Jones' responsibilities focus on student services and activi- ties. She admits new students, su- pervises student discipline, is in charge of textbook rental, and coordinates convocations. She is also co-sponsor of the student council. Charles Valier Athletic Director Mr. Valier's responsibilities include recommending personnel for coaching assignments, schedul- ing athletic events, and securing officials. He coordinates transpor- tation and assumes fiscal respon- sibility for the entire athletic pro- gram. He also coordinates the scheduling of events requesting school facilities for meetings.
