PRINCIPAL Mr. G. Donald Goerlitz has been the principal of Mt. Vernon Senior High School since the 1970-1971 school year. The year before he became principal, he was a counselor at the Junior High and also the sophomore counselor at the High School. Prior to becoming a counselor, he taught biology at the High School, science at the Junior High, and for ten years, worked at night as a medical technician at St. Mary's Hospital. Before becoming a member of the MSD, Mr. Goerlitz was a Control Chemist for General Foods Corporation for two years. He feels that these two non-school-related jobs helped him to be a better counselor. Mr. Goerlitz's responsibilities include: evaluation of personnel, school and community relations, staff and student morale, and curriculum development. ADMINISTRATORS Tom Collins Ann Jones Charles Valier Mr. Collin's responsibilities in- clude: co-ordinating the utili- zation of computers, develop- ing the master schedule, and scheduling all lunch releases. Along with Mrs. Jones and Mr. Valier, Mr. Collins acts in place of the principal in his absence. Mrs. Jones's responsibilities in- clude: co-ordinating matters re- lating to the cafeteria, custodial personnel, along with Mrs. York, and building maintenance, along with Mr. Culiver. She supervises the textbook rental and she also co-ordinates activities of the Stu- dent Council. Mr. Valier's responsibilities include: recommending personnel for coaching assignments, schedul- ing athletic events, and securing officials. He coordinates transpor- tation and assumes fiscal respon- sibility for the entire athletic pro- gram. He also co-ordinates the scheduling of events requesting school facilities for meetings.
