NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The object of the National Honor Society is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a de- sire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encour- age the development of character. The new members were selected last spring. The National Honor Society se- lects students based on their lead- ership ability, character, service, and grades. To be admitted have a 3.0 grade average for seven semesters, ju- niors with a 3.4 grade average for five semesters, and sophomores with a 3.7 grade average. The students are sent a letter tell- ing them that they are eligible, if they are interested. The student, then in turn, writes an essay based on their extracurricular activities and telling why they are interested. All names are then typed and sent to all of the teachers for an evalua- tion. the names are then sent to the faculty committee where they vote on the eligible names. If the stu- dents are selected, the student then receives a letter of acceptance and attends the initiation ceremony. New members are selected in the spring. s p o N s o R M R S. A N R A Y L E S
