SENIORS PRESENT DRAMATIC STORY THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK is the true and tender story of a young Jewish girl living in Holland during the Nazi regime of World War II. After her family is forced into hiding by the Nazis, Anne begins to keep a diary describing their three years of self-imposed imprisonment. Just as the war is ending, the family is found and sent to a concentration camp. With the exception of the father, all meet their deaths in the gas chamber. He alone lives to tell the moving story. The 12-3 record of Kramer and the second in the Sectional by McReynolds were other highlights of the season. Under the direction of Coach Maroni the grapplers completed a creditable season with 4 wins, 4 losses and 2 ties. A number of the underclassmen showed great improvement during the season and will provide a strong nucleus for the squad next year. Graduation will take Bogan, Bridgeman, Nelson, Nurrenbern, Shelby and Weatherford. Coach Stanton's hardwood squad of nine Juniors and three Seniors compiled a regular season record of 11 wins and 9 losses for the first winning season since 1958-59. Mt. Vernon played host to the Holiday Tournament and dethroned the Ft. Branch Twigs who had held the title for four years. Central was defeated for the first time since the 1941 Sectional and for only the second time in the 22 games played between the schools. The victory over North was the first win from the Huskies since 1957. With nine Juniors on the squad, the prospects for next year look bright.
