A DREAM COME TRUE’’ Before a large crowd. Bill Price crowned Elaine Juncker basketball queen for the 1963-64 season. Candidates for the honor, as well as their escorts, were nominated from their respective classes, and the queen and her court were then elected by vote of the student body. The maid-of-honor, Nancy Hayden, was escort- ed by Jim McDurmon. Attendants and their escorts were Joan Hornback and Steve Hall, and Sue Ewing and Robert Burklow. The bearers of the crown, robe and basketball were Debbie Adams, Dawne Barnewolt, and Dennis Uebelhack; and Ann-Margret presented the Queen her roses. 21

The Evansville College Drama Department again brought their touring Shakespearean players to MVHS. Following last year's excellent COMEDY OF ERRORS we eagerly looked forward to this year's production of TWELFTH NIGHT. PROGRAMS Ann-Margret, aided by the Choral Department, brought us a glimpse of an inspiring Swedish custom, Santa Lucia Day. The Feast of Santa Lucia commemorates her Christian martyr- dom in the 4th century. The people believed that Dec. 13 was the darkest day of the year; and since St. Lucia symbol- izes light and goodness, she comes to the world on this day to bring light. The holy day is observed in Sweden every year and calls for ceremonies in all homes, schools and churches.
