THEN, WE WERE JUNIORS, AND WE: opened the doors of our school to Kiyoshi Sawamura, a foreign exchange student from Japan saw history in the making via television when Colonel John Glenn orbited the earth sported our new class jackets down MVHS halls (wasn't everyone green with envy?) witnessed the comeback of the Mt. Vernon High News grumbled and mumbled about the new Progress Report Cards peddled magazines and pushed our sales up-up-UP to a record breaking total of $4362. 28 gobbled turkey as our reward at our Victory Banquet celebrated the first birthday of our new school received our gorgeous class rings ! finally ! cruised down the river aboard the Chaperon for our first Prom (It was almost sub-zero weather and most of us felt like sardines. Remember? It was our Senior year 1962-63. We did all these things--and more. We are like other high school students, yet we are different. We are the Class of 19631 17
