THE CLASS OF ’62 LOOKS BACK We started here.. .all 176 of us. We elected officers and did all of the things a Freshman is supposed to do.. .and added a few ideas of our own. We helped jam the already crowded halls as we moved wearily and confused from one class to another. We surprised everyone, especially the Seniors, with our Knock 'EM Cold float in the Homecoming Parade. This was the year the school returned to eleven-man football.. .and the band had new uniforms. We found time to note the dedication of three new elementary schools.. .and to see the Wildcats win the last Posey Coun- ty tournament. . .they also set a new scoring record of 101 points in a game that year .. .we operated a concession stand to enrich the treasury. Oh yes, we did find out about studying and that thing called FINALS. These were to haunt us and interfere with our education for the remainder of our high school days. As Sophomores we arranged things so that we had time to become active par- ticipants in extra-curricular activities such as a bomb scare and the Hobo Hulla- baloo. We carried on with all of the usual class activities.. .elections, class project (the donkeys again), participated in music and dramatics (Harrison High)--not the one in Evansville. The school became a member of the SIAC and won a Holiday tournament.. .we watch ed with interest as the NEW MVHS began to take form in the com field east of the Athletic Park. Our Junior year.. .we elected officers to carry the responsibility of a busy year. .. we proudly sported class jackets. We eagerly awaited the move to the new build ing. On alert for several weeks we finally made the move and stared in amazement at the sparkling fixtures and fabulous e- quipment. It was a dream come true.
