TO Mrs. Katherine Abel Mrs. Wilma Jacobs IN APPRECIATION During our years in high school we have often observed the many things that you do to keep the school moving as smoothly. We have the feeling that we have, on numerous occasions been the cause of many of your headaches. In case you have forgotten there have been such mat- ters as transfers, changed addresses, lost books, misplaced report cards, late bulletin notices and later busses. Because you have been patient, friendly and help- ful, we wish, with a sense of appreciation, to dedi- cate the 1953 Hoop-Pole to you. The Hoop-Pole Staff

MT. VERNON HIGH SCHOOL Dear Folks, Those strange sounds you hear coming from Room 34 are only the sighs and exclamations of relief from the staff of the 1953 annual. The poor dears are so relieved that it is fin- ished, that we can't hold them re- sponsible for all of their actions! But honestly, we think we have something to shout about. We think we have given you a pretty good pic- ture of a year in M. V. H. S. We wanted to make our annual an album that anyone who knew M. V. H. S. in 1952-53 would like to look at now and in the years to come. We know you will get many a chuckle out of the pictures and activities recorded be- tween these covers. The division pages, the work of Georgia Eckels, should serve to re- mind you of many of the events as- sociated with each section of the book. So we graduate, leaving this annu- al as the record of our most memor- able year. Mt. Vernon, Indiana THE SENIOR CLASS 3 5
