'pe tival TtliteCc Each year our band and choir joins with the other music departments of the county high schools to provide a musical program. The 1951 Posey County Spring Music Festival, was presented in the Poseyville gymnasium on March 16. All day they rehearsed together to blend the instruments and voices into one harmonious unit. In the evening the public was invited to eniov the result.

Patty-Sty t ta pi ty- Pcvo- get tired, for they lasted all day. Be- tween working problems and telling which block resembled another one, we came out baffled. Were we sur- prised at the results! Glass blower! What a boresome subject. We were all surprised to find that it proved to be a very interesting auditorium program. Weren't we proud of Dennis when he blew that bubble! Recall the county tourney at Griffin? It was wonderful playing in the finals. Then came the sectionals in Evansville. The Reitz Panthers had to admit that we had them scared (but not for long, I'm afraid.) We had two all-school parties our Junior year, The Ghostly Nightmare and The Big Top. We were still having loads of fun. Our class rings came! Weren't they the most beautiful things you had ever seen! We had a problem -- knew not what to do! Finally we solved it and planned an Aquamarine theme for our prom. And on the night of May the fourth, we certainly felt like we were on Luxury Liner-1951. Rippling water, tiny pink shells, rainbow colored fish, beautiful mermaids, and soft music all sent us floating on to dream land. When we, the Junior class, watched the Seniors graduate, we knew that it wouldn't be long before we would be taking that final step. But first would come all those long-awaited activities of the Senior year. Seniors at last! This was an honor we had so long waited. Truthfully, it felt about the same. Sophisticated! ----well, maybe. Ervin Schroeder now rapped the gavel for our 104 Seniors. This year we had a newly organ- ized Student Council, combining the two separate committees. They're off to a good start and we want them to know we wish them success. We elected another Gridiron queen -- this time Wanda Jeffries. With this queen, we tied the record of the total number of queens from any one class. We heard rumors that we would have a good team this year. These rumors came true. We were overjoyed when we tied for the P.A.C., especially since there were ten Seniors on the football squad. Cards, stationery, napkins, wrap- ping paper, just anything you might want. Again WE topped the records once more. Queen time again and we elected Carole Melton as our Basketball Queen of 1951. With this crowning, all re- cords were broken. Speaking of bas- ketball, well, It's unbelieveable ! We won the county tourney. The firetruck is waiting! Get those boys on that firetruck and let's get moving down Main Street. The atmosphere of our parties this year was original and colorful. We had a Fall Festival and the girls were invited to a tea, (Happy Birthday to You in 1952 !) The Senior Play! After the per- formances the cast was literally ex- hausted! The school party -- what fun! Oh yes, speaking of good times, let's not forget the Prom! It was different having someone do all the work. (It seemed strange -- we'd done all the preparation before.) Senior Week. With all the laurels and praises appropriate, we feasted our eyes upon our accomplishments. Com- mencement! ! (Who was happy?) As we graduate this May, 1952, we will never forget our years (only four) spent at Mount Vernon High School. We will dearly remember the teachers, the classes, the activities, and from our inspiring motto The Door of Knowledge IsLabeled Push we hope that we finish to begin. 25
